The team formed in 2005 for the first CT Challenge and since that time, they’ve raised over $222,000 to support the CT Challenge programs for cancer survivors.

What keeps them coming back year after year? Co-captain Scott Craighead explained, “we’re a group of middle-aged, weekend bike warriors who love cycling, seeing our beautiful roads and beaches in and around Fairfield and sharing the camaraderie that comes with riding together. We also enjoy putting our passion for cycling to work for the Connecticut Challenge.”

Matt Wiant, the other Hill Busters co-captain, said “we know we’re very fortunate to be healthy and are inspired by those whose strength and bravery has led them beyond cancer to go on and accomplish great things. We ride in the CT Challenge because we know there are others out there we can help who will benefit from the successful pathway the survivors have shown us all.”

Come experience this special day along with the Hill Busters. You’ll have the ride of a lifetime! Register today at http://bike.challenge.org

This may be the first time you’ve participated in a fundraising event. We’d like to show you just how easy it can be. Follow these 6 easy steps and you’ll be well on your way.

If you’ve set a higher minimum goal for yourself than $1000….Great! Simply adjust the minimum donation amount you’re asking of each potential donor, and/or increase the number of people you’re going to ask.

1. Donate to yourself. It all begins with you! $50

2. Ask 4 family members to donate $50 each. $200

3. Ask 14 friends (and other family members) to donate $25 each. $350

4. Ask 10 co-workers to donate $25 each. $250

5. Ask your boss for a company contribution of $60. $60

6. Ask 6 neighbors to donate $15 each. $90

Total $1000

Now that you’ve raised $1000, you know just how easy it is. Add just 4 more steps to reach $1500!

Dr. Eileen Gillan and Team Cycle of Life are signed up for the CT Challenge and looking to build their team. The goal is 15 members. Consider joining their team or making a donation! This year they ride in honor of Lil’ STAR Jocelyn, age 3.

Dr. Gillan is the director of the REACH for the STARS Survivorship Clinic at CT Children’s Medical Center, one of only two programs in the Connecticut that help survivors of childhood cancer. Over the last four years, the CT Challenge has made grants totaling $95,525 to support this critical program!

This year 60% of funds the team raises through the new Team Challenge program of CT Challenge Bike Ride, will go back as a grant to support survivorship programs for kids with cancer at CT Children’s Medical Center.

Visit their team page to donate or to join the team:
